In our experience it is a platform very few independent integrators in this region cover properly. We do, from Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok.
Why organizations in Malaysia and Thailand choose Huawei Cloud
Four reasons, and only one of them is technical. In-country capacity answers data-residency requirements. An existing Huawei relationship makes procurement simple. Huawei Cloud Stack answers the workloads that cannot leave a customer or government data centre. And the commercial terms are frequently the reason it appears in a tender at all.
In-country capacity
Huawei Cloud lists Kuala Lumpur capacity — a partner-operated node provisioned on request — and its Thailand presence underpins the government cloud program. For residency-constrained workloads, that shortens the conversation.
An existing Huawei relationship
Many enterprises here already buy Huawei networking or carrier infrastructure, so the cloud contract lands inside a procurement process that already exists.
A real hybrid and on-premises story
Huawei Cloud Stack puts the same architecture inside a customer or government data centre — for workloads that legally cannot leave the building.
Commercial pressure
Pricing and bundled terms are often why a Huawei line item appears in a tender. Whether it suits the workload is a separate question — the one we answer.
Huawei Cloud publishes Kuala Lumpur capacity — the AP-Kuala Lumpur-OP6 node, a partner-operated node provisioned on application — on its own Malaysia site. Do not assume parity with the Singapore or Bangkok regions: confirm the services you depend on are available there before committing — that check belongs in the assessment, not the first sprint.
The Thailand angle: Cloud-First and GDCC
Thailand's public sector cloud program runs on Huawei technology, which pulls the private sector with it. The Thai government has driven a Cloud-First policy — Huawei dates the proposal to August 2024 — and by Huawei's own published account the GDCC government cloud serves 219 government departments and 3,065 systems on Huawei Cloud Stack (Huawei Cloud), delivering over 80 out-of-the-box on-premises services (Huawei).
Those are the vendor's figures, presented as such — but the consequence is real: Thai enterprises integrating with government systems need teams fluent in both Huawei Cloud and a hyperscaler. Huawei Cloud compared with AWS and Google Cloud
The core building blocks map cleanly: managed Kubernetes, object storage, virtual networking, managed databases and a Terraform provider exist on all three. The differences that bite are ecosystem depth and third-party tool support, where AWS and Google Cloud are ahead, and on-premises and government cloud, where Huawei Cloud Stack is ahead.

The one hard number worth knowing
Cross-cloud cost comparisons are mostly unfalsifiable marketing, so here is the one published figure we currently cite. AWS opened its Asia Pacific (Malaysia) Region, ap-southeast-5, with three Availability Zones on 21 August 2024, and EC2 there runs approximately 13% below the Singapore region for the same instance types, per usage.ai, updated 29 July 2026. In-country capacity in Malaysia is no longer a Huawei-only proposition, so pick on residency, ecosystem and relationship — and treat pricing as the negotiation it is.
What a Huawei Cloud engagement includes
Three phases, and you can buy any one of them. Assessment and design produce the landing zone, the migration plan and the cost model. Migration executes it in waves with a written rollback. Build and operate leaves you with Terraform in your own repository — and, if you want it, us running day-2 operations afterwards.

The engineering is deliberately identical to what we do on AWS and Google Cloud: Terraform, containers on CCE, one pipeline, and restore tests before anything is called done. That consistency is what makes running two clouds affordable — see cloud architecture.
Avoiding lock-in with Huawei Cloud in the mix
Keep the portable layer portable and make the proprietary parts explicit. Containers, Kubernetes, Terraform and open-source data engines move between platforms with effort you can estimate. Managed AI, analytics and messaging services generally do not — so they sit behind an interface in your own code, and the exit cost stays a number rather than a surprise.
- Workloads ship as container images, not as platform-specific application packages.
- All infrastructure is Terraform, so a second platform is a new module rather than a new discipline.
- Object storage is accessed through the S3-compatible API where possible, keeping backup and data tooling portable.
- Databases default to open-source engines — PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis — before proprietary managed alternatives.
- Anything genuinely platform-specific is wrapped behind an interface your team owns, with the replacement cost written down.

We are an independent multi-cloud AI system integrator. We do not publish a partner tier on this page, because we only publish credentials we can evidence. What we bring is hands-on delivery on Huawei Cloud alongside AWS and Google Cloud, from Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok. If a specific tier or certification is a procurement requirement on your side, ask us directly and you will get a straight answer.
Can you migrate from AWS or Azure to Huawei Cloud?
Yes, and in both directions. Containerised workloads and anything already described in Terraform move most predictably; managed database and proprietary PaaS services need service-by-service mapping. We start with an assessment that tells you which parts are a re-target and which are a rewrite, before anyone commits to a date. See cloud migration services.
Does Huawei Cloud work with GitLab, Terraform and Kubernetes?
Yes. We run Terraform against the Huawei Cloud provider, deploy from GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions or Jenkins using self-hosted or cloud runners, and run containers on CCE. The workflow is the same one we use on AWS and Google Cloud — that consistency is exactly what makes multi-cloud survivable.
Why is Huawei Cloud relevant in Thailand?
Thailand’s public sector direction points at it. The Thai government has driven a Cloud-First policy — Huawei dates the proposal to August 2024 — and Huawei’s own published account of the Thai national government cloud states that the GDCC program serves 219 government departments and 3,065 systems on Huawei Cloud Stack (Huawei Cloud). Enterprises and system integrators working with Thai government-adjacent bodies increasingly need people fluent in both Huawei Cloud and a hyperscaler.
Is there an independent Huawei Cloud bench in Malaysia?
Thin. When we reviewed the Malaysian search landscape in August 2026, results for Huawei Cloud were dominated by Huawei’s own properties and by telco and data centre operators — almost nothing published by an independent integrator. If your only sources are the vendor and a capacity provider, nobody in the conversation is incentivised to tell you which workloads should stay on AWS.
Which workloads should not go on Huawei Cloud?
Anything that leans on a deep third-party tooling ecosystem, or on managed services with no close equivalent. AWS and Google Cloud are ahead on catalogue breadth and on the safe assumption that your existing tools support them. Huawei Cloud earns its place on residency, an existing relationship, or Huawei Cloud Stack for workloads that cannot leave a data centre.
How do you stop Huawei Cloud becoming another lock-in?
By keeping the portable layer portable: containers, Kubernetes, Terraform, open-source data engines and S3-compatible storage access. Proprietary services get used where they earn their place, behind an interface in your own code, so replacing one is a module change rather than a re-platforming project.
