Choosing between GitLab, GitHub Actions and Jenkins

Choose the one that matches where your code already lives and who has to operate the runners. GitLab CI/CD suits teams that want repository, pipelines and registry in one product. GitHub Actions suits teams already on GitHub. Jenkins earns its place for long-lived, customized builds inside restricted networks. Do you work with teams that have no DevOps engineer today?

Can you build CI/CD pipelines on Huawei Cloud?

Yes. Huawei Cloud is rare among Malaysian cloud consultancies, and we treat it as a first-class target alongside AWS, Google Cloud, Azure and DigitalOcean. Pipelines deploy to Huawei Cloud the same way they deploy anywhere else: Terraform for the infrastructure, container images for the workload, and the same review gates. Can you bring infrastructure that was built by hand under Terraform?

Yes, and without rebuilding it. Existing resources are adopted with terraform import so production keeps running while it comes under code. From there you get remote state with locking per environment, plans reviewed in merge requests, and drift detection on a schedule — because the console change someone made at 2am is the one that breaks the next deploy.

Do you manage or migrate self-managed GitLab instances?

Both. We run upgrade paths against the supported version sequence, size runner autoscaling to real pipeline load, and rehearse restores into a scratch instance so you know how long recovery actually takes. Migrations between instances or into GitLab.com run by Direct Transfer or export and import, depending on version and network constraints.

How does an engagement usually start?

With a short review of your current pipelines, infrastructure, cloud accounts and access model. That produces a written findings list, ordered by risk, and a proposed scope. From there it becomes either a fixed-scope project or a monthly retainer. No discovery workshop that ends in a slide deck.

Is DevOps as a Service cheaper than hiring a DevOps engineer?

Not automatically — it is a different cost shape. A hire is a fixed salary and statutory cost every month whether or not there is platform work; a retainer or fixed scope is sized to the work you actually have.
